On this World Refugee Day, together we are stronger

On World Refugee Day, June 20, UNHCR, the United Nations Refugee Agency, will pay tribute to the more than 80 million people who have been forced to flee war, conflict and persecution, and to rebuild their lives away from home. We will also pay tribute to the people who opened their country, their community and even their home to people who fled their homes in search of safety and peace.

The Covid-19 pandemic has strained our health systems, forced children out of school, and sometimes pushed us away from loved ones. Refugees have mobilized despite the challenges they face: they work on the front line as nurses and doctors, they invent ways to prevent the spread of the virus in confined spaces, they help educate people on how to stay healthy and safe, etc.

If given the opportunity, refugees will continue to contribute to a stronger, safer and more vibrant world. Together, #Withrefugees, we can achieve anything.

here in Malawi especially this day is being organized in Dowa more than 15 kilometers from Dzaleka Refugee Camp on grounds of covid 19, which raises a lot of question among all the refugee communities living in the Camp. this day is organized upstream to relieve suffering and encourage it. Due to Covid 19, in Dowa only 300 people from Dzaleka are called to participate in this event dedicated to refugees from all over the world. the population of Dzaleka Camp today is estimated at over 49,000.
